Fidget "Widget" Gidget Barnett-Sparks was the much loved, extremely soft and sweet cat of Alexis (and later Eric and Alexis) Sparks. Widget passed shockingly and suddenly from a blood clot on Wed, Feb 19th leaving behind her owners, 8 animal siblings and one human sibling.
Widget was originally found abandoned in a garage when she was a few weeks old. She was brought to her mom to be bottle fed. Widget and Alexis were a duo in Alexis' apartment for five years. During that time, Widget served as her mom's alarm clock, door greeter and constant companion. Widget would often cause chaos in the middle of the night, breaking glasses, magnets and plates, but she made up for it, proving herself to be a championship bug killer. At the age of 5 widget and her mom expanded their family. They moved into a home with Eric, his daughter and his dog. This was the start of a foster adventure that Widget was not too fond of being involved with. Over the next 9.5 years, Widget asserted her dominance over 15 different foster animals proving herself as the queen of the house. She never hesitated to remind all the dogs that she had claws, and they did not. The claws were reserved for other animals though, because Widget never growled, hissed at or clawed her people. She was always down for a good nap and cuddle session with her humans. Widget was a master at hide and seek, often disappearing when she was needed the most. She found ways to hide in bed springs, behind drawers built into the wall, and under the landing of the stairs. This habit caused her to miss family photos and caused multiple vet appointments to be rescheduled. She was an extremely picky eater, eating only one brand of kibble or Kroger rotisserie chicken. She could not be convinced to take any other food for any reason. Despite her distaste for the dogs in the middle of the bed, she'd often make her way to the top corner of her mom's pillow in the middle of the night for a good night's sleep. Her family was not ready to let her go, but they take comfort in the 14 years of love and memories she provided.
