Lyric Green

Lyric, 11, beloved member of the Green family, was born December 16, 2014 in Tennessee. She moved to Marion, IL and joined her forever family in April 2017.

She may have started life as a city girl, but she loved being on the farm. Her favorite things to do were to dig holes, sit on the patio and watch the chickens, and roll in the leaves. Her curious nature backfired a few times, most notably when she was sprayed by a skunk.

Her least favorite part of farm life, I believe, were the birds chirping in the morning. She would bark at them like they were ruining her day. Maybe she wasn’t a morning dog?

As the years went by, routines changed. Jumping into bed with mommy turned into settling for the floor near the bed, and the snacks she begged daddy for turned into glucosamine and an anti-inflammatory. The one thing that remained constant through the years was Lyric’s love and companionship. Thank you, Lyric, for being the kind of dog that will be loved and cherished forever.

On February 5, 2026 we said goodbye to Lyric. Not because we wanted to, but because her body just couldn’t fight the cancer any more. I will forever be grateful to Dr. Troop for allowing us to say goodbye in the most loving and dignified way possible.
